Inspired by philosopher Gaston Bachelard’s concept of the psychological, emotional significance of rooms and houses, For a Dreamer of Houses presents contemporary artworks that evoke personal spaces and considers the politics of places we identify with. The exhibit requires a $9 ticket with discounts for seniors, students, and military. DMA Members and children 11 and under are free. In challenging times like these, we can all use a little Christmas magic to brighten up our lives. Celebrate the season and make lasting memories at one of our three drive-through, COVID safe, family-friendly light show spectaculars! Radiance! A Holiday Light Spectacular is set to light up North Texas from Wednesday, Nov. 11 to Sunday, Jan. 3. It will debut in Frisco, Weatherford and Decatur. It is more than a mile long and will take about 20 to 30 minutes to drive through the entire experience. A special Radiance! radio station frequency will be provided for guests to enjoy iconic holiday tunes as they experience the wonder which includes 160 feet of animated RGB light tunnels. Food and beverages and special items, including hot chocolate, cookies, unique holiday treats, LED balloons, glow stick cotton candy and more, will be available for purchase from the comfort of the car. General admission tickets are $30 per vehicle. A VIP admission ticket for $50 per vehicle includes hot chocolate for each guest in the car, special Magic Light Glasses for each child, and a dedicated VIP lane, which reduces guests wait time on busier days. Strict health and safety protocols will be in place. Cars, SUVs and trucks are permitted but limousines, buses, RVs and any vehicle with a trailer are not allowed. Neath the Wreath Virtual Holiday Gift Market \| All Day
As with many events in 2020, the Junior League of Collin County (JLCC) is bringing the cherished tradition of the ‘Neath the Wreath Holiday Gift Market to the community virtually. This year’s theme invites shoppers to celebrate ‘Home for the Holidays,’ where they can enjoy the tradition of shopping their favorite merchants online from the comfort of their couch. The virtual event will be held November 12-15, 2020, with additional details available at https://www.neaththewreath.org. This year is more critical than ever to support the community initiatives of JLCC. With a rise in domestic violence, food insecurity, and unemployment, Collin County social services are at an all-time high demand. JLCC continues to be active in uplifting the organizations that are supporting those vulnerable in our community. With limited opportunities to work side-by-side as volunteers, financial support and donations are crucial to sustain the level of support needed.
