5. Moran Camp Xtreme (MCX)

At MCX, a child’s wheelchair is never a barrier to participating and there is limitless fun.

Moran Camp Xtreme (MCX) is a sports wheelchair camp that offers amazing activities for young people. This unique all accessible sports camp keeps kids busy with kayaking, horseback riding, swimming, basketball, a ropes course, dodge ball, relays, and a host of other activities.

MCX takes place three times each year. Summer and spring break sessions take place at Camp for All near Brenham, Texas. In the fall, MCX heads south to Galveston for two nights and three days of sailing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. The summer session is for kids only, however, during spring break, a camper’s may bring a friend, and the Galveston camp welcomes parents and siblings to join the fun.

The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research Foundation (TIRR Foundation) created MCX 20 years ago. TIRR Foundation is a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve the lives of people who have sustained central nervous system damage through injury or disease.
